Briggs Ferguson

Briggs is an Advisor & Principal of the New England Consulting Group, and a key member of our high tech and new media practice teams.

Briggs’ background reflects twenty-five years of experience, both as a management consultant and line manager focused on new business launches and existing business transformation.

His experience combines an unusual set of skills encompassing alignment of business strategy with organization needs, and strategic growth and profitability, culminating in the creation and launch of new digital business models.

Prior to New England, Briggs served as the President of the Internet business for yellow pages publisher Idearc Media (a spinoff of Verizon) where he was responsible for all online operations. As the President of the Superpages Internet business, much of his work has focused on building online local search. Briggs was instrumental in increasing users from 18M to 34M and transforming an old line yellow page publisher into a new age advertising vehicle for small and large businesses.

Before Idearc, Briggs was Chief Executive Officer of Citysearch (Division of IAC/Interactive Corp) where he drove the overall management and strategy for one of the first and the largest national and international local search businesses. While at Citysearch, he reversed a $40M loss and brought the company to profitability, increased traffic from 5M unique users in 2003 to 28M in 2006, developed the first local pay for performance model in the industry and world class SEO and SEM practices that were utilized by all IAC companies.

Briggs has also spent a great deal of time working in entertainment-related businesses. Having held numerous positions of increasing responsibility at EMI Music, he lead marketing and strategic efforts for Launch Media and facilitated the sale of the company to YAHOO! helping it to become the #1 music website.

Briggs began his career at Bain, where he worked on a variety of engagements across functions and industries.

He holds both a Bachelor’s degree of Engineering and a Master’s of Engineering degree from Dartmouth College.
