With over 30 years of diversified CPG experience, Dave is a dynamic leader with relentless passion and proven ability to consistently impact business and organization performance. A trusted senior advisor, Dave also has significant M&A experience working with small/mid-market and global investment giants.
Dave’s marketing career began at Quaker Oats where he worked 16 years and earned the Meritorious Service Award for Leadership in bringing new products to market, progressing from plant operations to product development and on to marketing on Cap’n Crunch® cereal and other brands.
From Quaker, Dave was recruited by ConAgra Foods to be one of the builders of the Healthy Choice brand. During his 12 year tenure, Dave was appointed CMO, and received multiple achievement accolades, including the President’s Award for Outstanding Marketing Performance, and the Jim Kennedy Marketing Award. Known as “Brandbuilder” by Brandweek, Dave continued driving portfolio to record sales and profits on Marie Callender’s®, Kid Cuisine® and Banquet®. He also led acquisition and licensing opportunities, such as Wolfgang Puck foods.
Subsequently, Dave became EVP/CMO of Birds Eye Foods and partnered with Vestar Capital to transform a commodity/agricultural company into a strong CPG player. Dave reversed declines to drive topline growth that changed the category with the launch of Birds Eye SteamFresh®. He also played a leading role in securing strategic acquisition of C&W (California & Washington) company and brand.
Adding to his notable career, Dave joined Tyson Foods where he reversed declines on Tyson Fresh Chicken, and as CMO led the US Olympic Sponsorship in Beijing and a new advertising campaign. Promoted to GM/SVP, Dave built a new retail pet products division and led the national introduction of True Chews® dog treats.
Dave moved to WM Barr household products, driving record performance across 20 countries behind new products on DampRid®, Goof Off®, Mold Armor® and Klean Strip®, before focusing on strategic consulting work.
He has broad experience as a board member and currently serves as a director for Community Coffee and Casper’s Ice Cream. Dave holds a BS from Northern Illinois University and did graduate study at the University of Kansas.
