Steve is an Advisor & Principal of the New England Consulting Group, and a key member of our automotive and advertising practice teams.
He has achieved an enviable record of success in building iconic brands and leading business transformations. As a marketing thought leader and C-level executive, he has been driven by two specific outcomes, creating market value through the development of clearly defined brands and winning in the marketplace as measured by sales, profits, market share, and pricing power.
Prior to the New England Consulting Group, Steve served as the CEO of the Jumpstart Automotive Group, the leading innovator in new age automotive media. During Steve’s tenure, the company achieved record pre-tax profits and assumed operating responsibility for all HFM automotive brands. Steve previously served as the COO of Hyundai Motors America, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing for Nissan, and Vice President of Global Marketing Communications for Apple.
He also spent thirteen years with Volkswagen of America as General Sales Manager and Chief Marketing Executive. At Volkswagen, Steve was the marketing architect and strategist who led the re-positioning of the Volkswagen brand, developed of the award winning “Drivers Wanted” campaign, and introduced the New Beetle.
At Apple, Steve led all global marketing communication activities, bringing “Think Different” to life across geographic markets and product lines, in multiple languages and cultures. He was a key leader and contributor to development of the Apple Store and led the marketing introductions for iMac, iBook, Cube, Power Book, and Mac Pro.
At Nissan, Steve led all marketing activities for Nissan and Infiniti. He introduced the Nissan Z, Altima, and Xterra within the context of a clearly defined brand and communication platform – Shift! He also introduced the Infiniti G35, FX, and M, achieving record sales, share, and profit. At Hyundai, Steve re-positioned the brand, developed a focused marketing strategy, and re-built the dealer pricing structures and retail relationships.
Steve earned his BA at Stanford University in Psychology and Religion, and his MBA in Marketing from the University of California, Berkeley. He is an active sports enthusiast, speaker, and lecturer. He currently also serves as a Board Member and Executive Advisor to four different creatively driven companies.
